Windows Vista had no problems with it and I used the computer for hours at a time without a hitch, but I did notice a slight burning smell in the room where it was running. Nevertheless, this card did not work for me, when ATI Radion 4xxx series does. Other than that, the installation was easy and the board is functioning perfectly. Gigabyte Hardware Type: Graphics Card Model: After only about 10 months, the fan began to slowly go out, whining, grinding and sometimes stopping. This made the unit overheat easily, and soon my PC would want to shut down. It performs beautifully, and the best part it for me is that it's completely silent, yet stays cool even during heavy gaming action. Although I don't play the very latest HD games that are extremely taxing on a video card, the ones I DO play are rendered beautifully on this GeForce I'd definitely recommend this card to mid-level gamers, or somewhat graphics intensive program use.
It is a low profile card, so it fits in smaller desktops as well. A plus for me, at least. And the price was right , too. Very affordable. As much as I love the idea of a silent graphics card, I don't believe this card was properly engineered to work silently.
I bought this card for an eight-year old Compaq desktop that I wanted to give to my son. I don't need a lot of graphics horsepower--my son is only three--and this seemed like a good fit, with silent operation as an added bonus.
Installation was easy and it worked beautifully out of the box. Windows Vista had no problems with it and I used the computer for hours at a time without a hitch, but I did notice a slight burning smell in the room where it was running.
As someone who has been building and repairing PCs since the s, I recognized the smell as that of an overheating integrated circuit--they have a distinct smell. But everything seemed to be working fine, so I thought little of it.
Actually, I thought it might be the power supply--the Compaq only has a W supply, and I was concerned the graphics card might be pulling just a little too much current for it to handle. On Sunday, I tried to power it on and the PC wouldn't do anything.
No power, nothing. I assumed the old power supply had died, so I replaced it with a new Antec W variety. Still nothing. I then disconnected all peripherals to see if one of them was causing the issue. Sure enough, when I removed the graphics card, the system powered up normally. When I reinserted it, the system wouldn't power on at all. I'm returning the card and exchanging for another model, one with a fan.
Silent operation is a nice-to-have, but not if it means the card isn't going to last, and it is my opinion that this card is simply not engineered to dissipate the heat that even this relatively low-power GPU generates.
Gigabyte GV-NDGI Drivers
This is especially disappointing because I've had nothing but good results in the past with Gigabyte products. I've tried 7 different drivers, including, the one which came with CD for Windows 7.
I also tried to install it on XP. I had the same massage over and over "This graphic driver could not find compatible graphic hardware".
GIGABYTE GeForce 1 GB Rev.
It could not find any "graphic hardware" neither. This about it. The culprit, probably, is the Motherboard. It does not have a newest BIOS updates. Nevertheless, this card did not work for me, when ATI Radion 4xxx series does. I thought they, finally, started to build better cards.
Looks like not in my time frame starting from I can't recommend this card. Here you go. Truly a single slot solution for you HTPC guys with tiny Only supports bit-streaming of non-HD codecs. So really a non-issue unless you're some insane audiophile conspiracist. Get a GT 0db card if you want bit-streaming for HD codecs, but it takes up two slots.
Every PC needs good graphics. | GeForce
I even under-clocked it as low as it would go, removed my HTPCs case and it still ran at 95 to c, yes "C. I am using the 0db GT once again. Its larger cooler keeps it cool.
